I’ve been meaning to make a twist front crop top for a while now. I have so many things on my list to make that it just fell to the waste side. But recently while cleaning out my closet, I was struck with some inspiration. The plan was to get rid of anything that I don’t wear or that no longer suits my style. I came across my black panther t-shirt from Thread Junkie that I use to rock the shit out of in college and my favorite Lucky Brand tee.
I’m was a little too attached to give them away but I also don’t wear them so I compromised and decided to make something new that I would wear.
I decided to make a twist front crop top with an exposed zipper in the back. I used one of my boyfriend’s old t-shirt to do a basic draping on my dress form. Once I was happy with the draping, I created a pattern and then cut out my pieces.
Even after creating the drape and pattern, the top still needed some work. Once all the pieces were sewn together, I fitted the top to my body using safety pins. When all was said and done, I was really happy with the results!
