Prioritizing self-care and the things you love

Prioritizing self-care, wearing The line by K Harley Henley

Prioritizing self-care is a huge goal for me this year. As we get older it’s gets so much easier to avoid taking care of ourselves and not do the things that we love. In the beginning of the pandemic, I got into a good groove but fell off track once I started working again.

Since the start of the 2021, I feel like I’ve been making some progress in terms of taking the time to do the things that make me feel good but I’ve noticed that I haven’t been making the time for the things that I love to do like dance, sketch and read. WTF is that about? 😂 I guess sometimes it’s just easier to veg out in front of the TV instead of putting in effort.

Here is my self-care priority list for 2021:

Skincare

Although, my skin has been flourishing, I still get lazy from time to time with my routine. My goal is to stay consistent and start using all my masks again.

Reading

I’m not sure why I completely stopped reading when it’s something that I always loved doing. Not only is it entertaining, a great way to escape but also a powerful learning tool. When you lose the desire to learn, you stunt your growth! I have so many books in my Barnes & Noble wishlist so I need to get on it.

Create art

I’m an artist who never makes time to create art, that doesn’t make any sense! Getting caught up with all the things adulting has pushed this all the way to the back of the line. I truly believe that you can never truly be your authentic self if you aren’t embracing all the things that make you, you!

“The meaning of life is to find your gift. The purpose of life is to give it away.” -Pablo Picasso

Nails did

Doing my nails is a struggle for me right now because of covidia :-(. Although, I love getting my nails done, I actually HATE doing them myself so I’m stuck between a rock and a hard place! (first world problems 😩😂)

Doing the little things

I have this amazing body scrub from ritual that I hardly ever use because I’m always in a rush. It literally has been sitting on my shower shelf for over 2 years. The few times that I’ve used it, it only took a few minutes to apply, rinse and my skin felt amazing afterwards. Moral of the story: slow the fuck down and enjoy the small things!

Working out

I’ve been pretty consistent with working out during the pandemic but there are moments when I fall off, like now. When I was consistent the goal was stay active but also take it easy on myself and not worry about weight loss, muscle gain, etc. So this time around, the goal is to get back to a routine and really focus on my goals. And take at least one dance class a week!

How are you prioritizing your self-care?
