Black Innovation On Full Display at Pyer Moss

Although the Fall 2021 Haute Couture shows came to a close a few weeks ago, there is still much to celebrate. Haitian-American designer, Kerby Jean-Raymond makes history as the first Black American designer to be invited by the Chambre Syndicale to present couture. Considering that the Chambre Syndicale has been around for over 150 years, this was and still is a big fucking deal.

Kerby, the mastermind behind Pyer Moss, used this moment to celebrate black innovation by paying tribute to 25 black inventors including Madam CJ walker. She was a pioneer and thee first self-made female millionaire in America. The runway show was held at her legendary estate in Upstate New York, Villa Lewaro. This is lack Excellence at it’s finest.
